Guy Cochran over at DVCreators.net has some excellent video reviews of production gear on the DV Gear Talk page. It's nice to be able to see the gear in action instead of just reading about it. His review/tutorial of the Sennheiser wireless G2 system is what finally convinced me to purchase the units (and they are sweet). Guy is a straight shooter and knows his stuff. He was providing these videos long before iTunes and the iPod made it cool. DV Gear Talk at DVCreators.net

1. Agreed, his videos are good but don't take them as being actual reviews. They are plain and simple advertisements for gear that DV creators sells. Case in point: his shotgun round up. He tested every shotgun with the speaker only 8 inches from the mic. Guess what? They all sounded great! It was by no means a "shootout" but rather a useless test that provided only nominal information about the mics. Like kicking the tires at a used car lot.
The problem with his tests he doesn't employ them in a fashion that they are meant to be used. What matters in a shotgun test are things like side and rear rejection, how well the mic picks up when 4', 8', 12' form the subject. i.e. real world shooting scenarios. Recording in an accoustically dampened studio at 8 inches form the mic is a useless "test".
